Community Meeting at Bliss Pottery House
Join the Connecticut clay community for our monthly meeting & networking event! Community meetings are open to members and anyone interested in getting involved with the CT Clay Guild.
This meeting will feature an artist demo/talk from Brenton Duhan, and don’t forget to show up in your best pottery inspired costume.


One Day Firing with Vicente Garcia
This workshop will consist of Smoke, Obvara, Saggar and Raku firing techniques. Participants will work with basic and advanced techniques in a hands-on workshop designed to help develop skills in the application and firing processes Vicente uses in his work.
CT Clay Guild Members can reserve their spot in the CTCG Member Portal HERE. If the workshop does not fill by October 2nd, we will open it up at a non-member rate.

Saggar "Short-Shop" at Canton Clay Works
This Saggar Firing Short-Shop is a condensed version of CCW’s Exploration in Saggar Firing, allowing potters to put in a shorter time commitment with the same learning value! Space is limited to two cubic feet per participant. Over this 1.5-day short-shop, participants will learn in-depth detail of two different varieties of saggar firing in a gas kiln.

Introduction to Cone 10/11 Gas Reduction: Glazes "Short-Shop" at Canton Clay Works
An opportunity for ceramic artists to participate in a cone 10/11 gas reduction kiln utilizing CCW's spectacular high-fire glazes! This is a one-day short-shop covering cone 10 reduction glazes including Shinos, Celadons, stunning copper reds, and other feldspar glazes.
Participants are allotted two cubic feet of volume. Clay bodies matter! Clays not purchased from CCW must be approved.

Community Meeting at SCSU
Join the Connecticut clay community for our monthly meeting & networking event! Community meetings are open to members and anyone interested in getting involved with the CT Clay Guild.
This meeting will feature an artist demo from Lydia Johnson and a tour the University’s ceramics collection.
We will also collect tool donations for our “Tool Swap” fundraiser.


Feldspar Walk with Eike Mass
*rain date August 31
We have about 10 spots available to us to join students from SCSU and Eike Maas on a hike to the quarries in Portland CT to collect feldspar. The first trip on August 9th was extremely informative and a lot of fun! The two-ish hours that we spend at the quarries will be packed with educational content about using wild minerals in your ceramics and how to find them.
CTCG Member sign ups will be on a first come first served basis. If we end up with more than 10 sign ups we will create a waiting list.

This meeting features a Starting Your Small Arts Business panel discussion where ceramic artists with different backgrounds and experiences will share everything they wish someone had told them when they were starting out.

Kiln Unloading at Canton Clay Works
Train Kiln unloading followed by a pot luck lunch and guild updates. All guild members are welcome to attend, even if you did not participate in this firing.
Wood Fire at Canton Clay Works
We will fire around the clock from noon on Friday 6/27 to approx noon on Sunday 6/29. Shifts are 4 hours each.
Kiln Loading at Canton Clay Works
Tim will send out the shift schedule in May. Shifts are 4 hours at the most.

Community Meeting at Farmington Valley Arts Center
Join the Connecticut clay community for our monthly meeting & networking event! Community meetings are open to members and anyone interested in getting involved with the CT Clay Guild.
At this meeting, we will host a “Mug Show & Tell” and Mug Handle Demo Panel where 4 - 5 artists will demonstrate unique methods for creating their signature handles.
We will also collect tool donations for our Tool Swap.
Don’t forget to bring your favorite mug!

Glaze Day at Canton Clay Works
Glazing Day for the June Train Kiln Firing at Canton Clay Works
10:00 am Join the CCW community in unloading the May firing & learn about the unique atmospheric effects of the train kiln followed by a lunch break.
12:00 - 3:00 pm Apply flashing slips and glazes to your pots supplied by Tim at CCW. Instruction and a brief demo will be included.

Members Meeting at Wet Clay Works
Join the Connecticut clay community for our monthly meeting / networking event!
This meeting will feature Ave Rivera giving a “Social Media 101” mini workshop. She will cover social media best practices and share what has worked well for her when promoting her work. The presentation will be 15-20 minutes and will be followed by a 15 min Q & A session.

Members Meeting at Spiral Arts Studio
Join the Connecticut clay community for our monthly meeting / networking event!
The first 60 - 90 minutes of each meeting will be devoted to guild business, celebrating what we have accomplished and looking towards the future. After all current items are covered we reserve 30 - 40 minutes for a community open forum. Each meeting is then wrapped up with time to socialize, network, and share food pot luck style.
