Photographing Your Pottery: Community Photo Night

Bring 2–3 pieces of your work and join us for an evening focused on improving our pottery photography skills together. Whether you’re documenting work for applications, updating your website or social media, preparing for shows, or simply trying to take better photos with your phone, this meeting is designed to help members create stronger images of their ceramics.

This will be a collaborative, hands-on session where we learn from one another by experimenting with lighting, backgrounds, composition, camera settings, and simple styling techniques that make pots photograph beautifully. We’ll discuss both phone and camera photography, share tips and tricks, and work together to troubleshoot common challenges like glare, shadows, and capturing accurate glaze color.

To make the evening even more useful, we’ll be crowd-sourcing photography equipment from members. If you have photography lights, light boxes, backdrops, reflectors, cameras, tripods, clamps, props, or other useful gear, please consider bringing it along. The goal is to create several simple photo setups that members can experiment with throughout the evening.

You bring 2–3 pots, and together we’ll build the lighting setups, share equipment, and help each other strengthen our photography skills in a supportive and creative environment.
