I have been creating and teaching art for over 38 years. As I prepare to retire from public school teaching, I am devoting myself fully to studio practice. My work explores human relationships, economic systems, and our interaction with the surrounding landscape.

While completing my MFA thesis 28 years ago, I focused on sculpture and installation art that incorporated audience participation, recorded sound, and visual text. In later years, my practice expanded to include large paper-clay sculptures and wall installations featuring tobacco leaf forms and original fired photo decals. Over the past five years, I have been creating utilitarian, functional pottery intended for everyday use and enjoyment.

Clay remains my most natural and expressive medium. Moving forward, I plan to combine my recent investigations in ceramic vessels with photo transfers to develop new work that reflects my evolving ideas and experiences.
