Our members are potters, sculptors, ceramic artists, studio owners, students, and educators from across Connecticut. Our passion for clay bonds us together creating a unique community of creatives.

Our mission as a group is to foster the growth and expansion of our clay community through networking, open studio tours, pop up sales, and workshops.

CTCG Workshops & Offerings

Train Kiln Firing at Canton Clay Works

$100 - one quarter template (1500 cubic in.)

Join us for our first group wood firing at Canton Clay Works in Canton CT. This first firing event is offered at a discounted rate to all who would like to join us!

June 1 Glazing

10:00 am Join the CCW community in unloading the May firing & learn about the unique atmospheric effects of the train kiln followed by a lunch break.

12:00 - 3:00 pm Apply flashing slips and glazes to your pots supplied by Tim at CCW. Instruction and a brief demo will be included.

June 24 - 26 Loading

Tim will send out the shift schedule in May. Shifts are 4 hours at the most.

June 27 - 29 Firing

We will fire around the clock from noon on Friday 6/27 to approx. noon on Sunday 6/29. Shifts are 4 hours each. The preheat shifts are very simple and easy. The more complicated shifts will have a shift supervisor with a lot of experience.

July 5 Unloading

10:00 am Unload the kiln

12:00 ish - 2:00 pm CTCG Pot Luck Meeting
